Amerzone - The explorer's Legacy - Ovo-Volahos Mechanical Bird Totem
Thanks to the forces of the water, finely carved wooden white bird figures come to life and flap their wings majestically evoking a mobile in perpetual motion.
The rotating system of the totem activates a belt circuit to the birds. In this sequence of movements, a wooden mechanical system lowers ans raises the bird's chest, allowing it to flap its wings.
In the Ovo-Volahos village, is a fascinating hydraulic construction that emboding both indigenous tradition and modern ingeniery. Designed by the villagers, this totem pole is connected to the river by a complex system of rustic wooden mechanisms.
The birds turn more or less quickly around the totem pole thanks to different wooden wheels of different diameters.
