The Amerzone marshes are home to all kinds of creatures, including one of the most astonishing: the webbed giraffe. A slender one, both graceful and fearful, swimming majestically in the swampy waters.
They have flippers similar to those of sea turtles, which allow them to move silently and elegantly, so that it is quite rare to come across one or more specimens, as their movements are made without noise so as not to attract the attention of predators.
The webbed giraffe is an integral part of the bestiary and of the myths and legends of the Ovo-Volahos people. The ritual of the white bird's egg is formal proof of this, and manifests itself in a strange, ghostly-looking pilone topped by a foghorn.
Each young member of the tribe follows an initiatory path in which they must demonstrate courage and cleverness to solve the riddle of the calling post.
To help them along the way, curious idols with animal features are placed on their heads.
